When people are interested in a topic, whether it be baseball or scrap booking, what they tend to do, almost immediately, is search out the expert in that specific area. Unfortunately, this is not what happens with teeth straightening. What happens nine times out of ten, is a patient, who is interested in getting their teeth aligned properly, ends up choosing someone based solely on how much they are going to charge them for the treatment.
When you sit back, and think about that for a minute, you begin to realize how insane that thought process is. So rather than find the true expert in this field, in your local area, what you decide to do instead is go with someone just becasue they charge a cheaper price?
For some people this is sound logic, but for others, like myself, this is a little short-sighted; to say the least. See, you can always find someone offering whatever you want at a low price, but price does not always equal “value.” If I end up deciding to go someone based only on price, and I have a terrible experience, but in the end I got my teeth straightened, I’m going to chalk that all up to a bad experience, and go along my merry way. On the other hand, if I wound up paying a little more, but I enjoyed the experience throughout the whole process, and I got the result I wanted at the end – that’s what we call value.
One of the ways you can start looking for a value-based dentist is to start on Google, and look up the reviews and ratings found on the search results that pop up on the first page of search when you type in something like “Invisalign dentist in Brooklyn NY,” for example. The more reviews, and ratings they have, the more “real” the dentist becomes. Nothing is less inspiring than a five star rating over one review. That review could be a friend they got to write in for them, or even a family member. When you get in into the double digits, now you’re working with something that’s much more credible. So when looking up a dentist’s online reputation, make sure they have at a least ten reviews and a four star rating before deciding to call up to set up an appointment.
Your teeth are extremely valuable. In your adult life, you only get one set; so you have to make them last as long as you can. Find the person who you feel is going to give you the best value for the amount you end up investing. You mow have some ideas on how to get that done.
